We’re thrilled to welcome our summer intern, Grant Summerhill! Grant is a senior marketing/communications student at UNC Pembroke. His first task here at Common Heart was to introduce himself to you – our volunteers, friends & supporters.
So here…in his own words… meet Grant!
Hi! I’m 24 years old and was born in Washington, D.C. and moved to Charlotte around the age of two. I’m very happy to be here as the summer intern. One of the most exciting aspects about being a part of the team at Common Heart is the opportunity to be a part of something bigger than myself and be able to help people in need. Quite frankly, it is the one thing I look forward to everytime I step foot into the building.
One of the main reasons I wanted to work at Common Heart was because I was part of the Cupboard Ally volunteer program when I was younger. My family would pick up groceries and drop them off at neighbors’ houses each month and it was something that I really enjoyed. I feel like remembering all the lives we made better and days we made easier for other people (and the feeling that came along with it) is what gave me the push to want to intern here.
My hobbies include music & food! I have always been really interested in music more so than anything and growing up it played a really big part in my life. I have also been really into food ever since I can remember. I like to try new things on a daily basis and I feel that the best way to do that is through food. I’m a big Clemson football fan and Hornets basketball fan – growing up in the Carolinas, sports like football and basketball are really big!
I look forward to meeting, working with, and creating great memories with you here at Common Heart!
