In addition to air to breathe and water to drink, food is a basic necessity of life.
It is hard to believe that 26,500 (10.7%) of adults and children here in Union County, NC live in homes that are food insecure. Our pantry helps change those numbers through its delivery and traditional pantry programs. A simple and straightforward way to help is by donating non-perishable food. You can bring donated food to Indian Trail, Common Heart, 116 Business Park Dr, Indian Trail, NC 28079 from 10 AM – 3 PM (W-F) and 8 AM – 12 PM (Saturday). You can bring donated food to our Marshville location, 6022 Marshville Blvd. Marshville, NC 28103 from 10 AM – 2PM (M,T, Th,F) and 9AM – 12PM (Saturday). For larger donations or perishable items, contact Kevin Daniels (FoodRaising@commonheart.org; (704) 746-9224), to arrange a time to drop off your donations at our main pantry.

Physical Food Drives
Food drives are a great way to help keep our Common Cupboard stocked.
Here are some ideas…
- Your church, Sunday school class, youth organization, or business can hold a food drive. Pick a day and ask everyone to bring in a bag.
- You could do a neighborhood food drive. Give out bags in your neighborhood with a note. Ask folks to put the bags at their mailbox filled with groceries for the cupboard.
- Food scavenger hunts are a great fun way for your youth organization to bring in bags of groceries. Make it a contest!
- Here is a way to combine worship and community service at your church. Have a monthly food collection in connection with your Communion Service. As you experience the breaking of bread in communion, you can share your bread with the “least of these my brethren.”
