This year we are investing in people – people not only impacted by this pandemic, but the circumstances and barriers of life in poverty. Here’s a letter from our Executive Director, Keith Adams.

Thank you for being a big part of this small revolution of kindness! Thousands of our neighbors have counted on this community moved by love, and you have not disappointed!

We’ve got to keep this momentum of kindness growing and we can during this Love in Action season by making a special Love in Action donation and joining us for this year’s Love In Action banquet.

You are the heroes of this small revolution! Last year during Love in Action season friends like you contributed over $60,000 to purchase a refrigerated truck and prepare the new East Union Empowerment Center’s Pantry/Warehouse to become the new hub for our innovative economic empowerment programs.

This year we are investing in people – people not only impacted by this pandemic, but the circumstances and barriers of life in poverty.

This is what your support during Love in Action season will do:

• Triple the number of Getting Ahead focus & empowerment groups from 2 to 6 a year impacting 60 families.
• Offer professional coaching and incentives to a minimum of 20 graduates of Getting Ahead.
• Add new Stability and Growth classes to build English proficiency, financial, relational, emotional, and other resources creating new opportunities for over 100 participants to accomplish work, career, and personal goals.
• Offer our R Rules youth program at the City of Monroe Parks afterschool program for 40 Middle School students.

These are big goals for 2021 and beyond. Will you help us achieve these goals? The cost of increasing Getting Ahead focus groups from 2 to 6 groups is $40,000 on its own. The amazing thing is that such an investment will return over $200,000 in decreased benefits and contributions to the community in taxes and growth. From a pure investment perspective accomplishing these goals will create a 500% return on investment, but it is so much more to the families and youth who receive your kindness and support.

What can you do?

• Donate a special gift to provide food, encouragement, support and hope to local families. Make it a recurring donation and your impact is even greater.
• Become a Fundraiser and invite your friends to support Love in Action.
• Attend Common Heart’s Love In Action on Friday, October 8, 2021 at Threshold Church.

In spite of everything, together we have risen to the challenges of this present time. Families in this community are counting on our love in action, to bridge the gap and create new hopeful futures.
