As I consider the amazing success of our Great Turkey Countdown, I am overcome with gratitude and awe. What we have done together, providing Thanksgiving to over 1,500 families, is amazing!

Together, we may have created joy and happiness for a day, yet in my heart I have a bigger wish: a more hope-filled future. Would you consider making a year-end holiday gift to provide a more hope-filled future for our neighbors? This is our Christmas wish!

It starts with food and friendship. We pray “give us this day our daily bread,” and for some of our neighbors, it is literal. Your gift is an answer to these prayers. But the impact of your generosity does not stop there! 

Your support also creates hope-filled futures! One hundred neighbors each year start creating the future that they always hoped for through our Getting Ahead and Economic Empowerment programs. Your generosity empowers families to become more stable, self-sufficient, and prosperous.

One of my friends, Holland Gibbs, is creating a more hope-filled future thanks to your support.

I first met Holland during a Getting Ahead group in 2017. She was working 3 part-time jobs and raising her 3 kids by herself. She worked hard and was still dependent on the kindness of friends to get by. 

She received some government benefits, she attended our food pantries, and her housing was provided by the kindness of some church friends. She told me, back then, that her goal was to make her own way, have her own home, and provide an amazing life for her kids.

We are so excited, six years later, that she is doing exactly that! She broke ground on her new home being built by Habitat for Humanity in September.

What my heart longs for is for the experience of poverty to be changed into an experience of a new, more hope-filled future for thousands in our community.
