When Harriet first visited one of our evening pantries, it was clear she felt awkward and very embarrassed. She hadn’t had a real meal in over a week! She saw the sign for the pantry and stopped by.
But what she found was friendly people, “right neighborly folks.” The smiles and kind words put her at ease. She couldn’t contain herself as she received the much-needed food. True tears of relief and gratitude flowed.
She’s been back several times since and she looks forward to visiting her new friends. A simple box of food with kindness seems to fill her with gratitude, hope, and energy.
Our 6th annual Common Heart Hunger Walk is coming up on Sunday, March 5 and you can help neighbors just like Harriet by donating or signing up to walk with us! Just $10 provides a week’s worth of groceries for a hungry senior citizen couple. Donate or sign up online at: CommonHeartHungerWalk.org
Together, we CAN take steps to end local hunger!
