Welcome, Detrina!

We’re thrilled to introduce a new addition to the Common Heart team – Detrina Little, Economic Empowerment Director.

Detrina comes to us with over 15 years of experience leading Bridges Out of Poverty and Getting Ahead programming, first as Director of Family Support at YMCA of Greater Charlotte and most recently through the Meck Success Program where she served for three years.

She has a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services from Wingate University and holds a Master of Public Administration degree from Strayer University. Detrina is also a Certified Life and Career Coach.

Detrina truly has a heart for service and says she’s passionate about helping people recognize their strengths, overcome barriers, and move confidently toward their goals.

“I believe people thrive when they feel seen, supported, and empowered to take ownership of their future,” she said. “My mission is to not only help people succeed but to help them believe they can. I’m someone who believes in meeting people where they are while also encouraging them to recognize their strengths and potential.”

Detrina said she was drawn to Common Heart because of the “focus on relationships, empowerment, and long-term support for families. I appreciate that the organization doesn’t just provide temporary help, but also focuses on helping people build stability and reach their goals. I wanted to be part of a team that genuinely cares about people and creates opportunities for growth and transformation.”

In her free time she enjoys being with her family, listening to music, attending community events, and learning new things that help her grow personally and professionally. She has two precious Yorkie pups named Prince & Lola.

You can reach Detrina at 704-870-0012 or by emailing Detrina.Little@CommonHeart.org
