Volunteering is a family affair

Volunteering really can bring a family together!

Just ask one of our newest Cupboard Ally volunteers Nicole Hillery! This local attorney and her 16-year-old son, Nate, signed up to deliver groceries once a month to some of our neighbors after spending an “awesome” day together delivering Thanksgiving meals with us at the Great Turkey Countdown.

“We saw the Common Heart brochure and it talked about the Cupboard Ally program. At the exact time we both said ‘We should do it,’” Nicole said. “I think this activity will not only provide me with an opportunity to be closer to my son, but will also provide us both a chance to be better community citizens. I look forward to the new friendships we will make.”

If you’re interested in becoming a Cupboard Ally volunteer, call Riane (pronounced “Ryan”) at: 704-218-9060 ext. 1017 or email CupboardAlly@CommonHeart.org

Nicole & Nate are ready to hit the road together to deliver groceries to hungry neighbors!
