Think one person can’t make a difference? Just ask Christy Jones!!! This Marvin Mom and Common Heart volunteer noticed that the food supply looked low — and decided to do something about it!
In the last 2 weeks Christy has collected — BY HERSELF — a staggering 2,336 pounds of food AND she’ll be back next week with more! She’s collected from 6 Marvin area neighborhoods, her gym, her church and any local friends she can ask.
“I thought ‘I wish there was some way we could help. Then I got a volunteer email and saw the Facebook post about the need for nonperishables. This was it — it was something I just had to do,” she said.
We’re so inspired by Christy’s action and the generosity of this community to feed our neighbors this summer. Remember … Hunger Doesn’t Take a Vacation!
