A Cupboard ally volunteer discovered, much to her surprise, as she visited with one of the neighbors she delivered to, that she went to school with their grandkids! It’s those connections that have made it easy to become friends.
“Since we know a lot of the same people, I get to expand the stories and update them with my family. It’s always a great visit. Sometimes she’ll call and ask if I can pick up whole milk or butter so she can make homemade cornbread. I don’t mind. It’s little, tiny things to try to make it special for them. I want to let them know they’re cared about.”
Just $25 provides a week’s worth of groceries for a family experiencing food insecurity. You can take steps to help end local hunger by registering (or donating!) for this year’s Common Heart Hunger Walk! The walk is on Sunday, March 5 and we have two locations again this year: Indian Trail & Marshville. Get all the details and register online: CommonHeartHungerWalk.org
