Getting Ahead success story alert! 

We’re so proud of our Getting Ahead graduate Sharon Crowder who has recently opened a business following her passion: cooking. 

Level Up Spicy Kreationz Southern Kountry Komfort Food & Spice is a full-service catering business and Sharon also makes and sells her spices separately (43 varieties!) and is able to ship nationwide. Her Facebook group also lists weekly menu options that you can order directly from Sharon — perfect for families or a work lunch.  

“When I put my seasoning on there it turns it into something different,” she said.  

Sharon says that Getting Ahead helped her gain confidence as well as the resources through networking to make this dream a reality.  

“Getting Ahead inspired me to be great,” she said. “I’m so excited. I’m ready to do this.”

Sharon has a message for current GA participants who are considering making a change in their careers: “Don’t be scared. Follow your dreams and dream big. Just do it. I hate to steal Nike’s slogan, but it’s true. There’s going to be setbacks, but just keep following your dreams.” 

Our Getting Ahead participants and staff as well as members of our Advocates for Change group know the deliciousness that is Sharon’s cooking! Our Executive Director, Keith Adams, even gives her chili 5 stars (he gives his own chili 5 stars as well…hmmm, we may have to have a cookoff!).
