Aug. 21: Advocates for Change Poverty Simulation

UPDATE: This event has been postponed … stay tuned for a new date. Walk for a little while in your neighbor’s shoes as our Advocates for Change group hosts a poverty simulation on Saturday, Aug. 21 from 10 a.m.- 1 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 302 East Windsor St., in Monroe. Lunch is included.

Poverty is a reality for many individuals and families. But unless you’ve experienced poverty, it’s difficult to truly understand. The Advocates for Change Poverty Simulation is an interactive immersion experience. It’s based on real people and their real lives.During the 3 hour simulation you will …

-Experience a simulated month in poverty.
-Unpack your experience in a small group.

During lunch we will share our experiences and brainstorm community change. You will also be offered tangible ways to be involved in transforming the experience of families in poverty.

The experience is appropriate for both teens and adults.
