Shortly after starting her Getting Ahead journey, Sarah Schfield discovered a valuable resource to help provide her children with nutritious meals: Common Heart’s food pantries!!
A single Mom of two, Sarah – who’s a Russian native – said she had never even heard of a food pantry and didn’t know how or where to get help to provide for her family. Getting Ahead to the rescue!
It’s just one of the local resources she learned about while participating in this life-changing work group. As we‘re encouraging summer donations because “Hunger Doesn’t Take a Vacation,” we also want to mention that we’re accepting applications for our next Getting Ahead session which starts July 11 in Monroe.
If you know someone who’s struggling, please encourage them to apply. Participants receive a $25 Wal-Mart gift card, free dinner & free childcare for every session they attend.
