We’re excited to introduce you to Paul Deavers, Assistant Pantry Manager. Our volunteers know Paul for his energy and passion for serving others, but did you know he was captain of his high school’s tennis team?
That’s probably why he’s been such a team player since joining us a few months ago! Paul was an intern at his college’s student food pantry which is where he said he “developed an interest in volunteering and getting involved with my community.”
Paul says he’s thrilled to have found a job where he can provide “a helping hand” to our neighbors.
“I get to be part of every step of the pantry process from the moment of getting the food, to distributing it,” he said. “I’ve met amazing volunteers and have gotten to know a few of our neighbors and experienced moments that have left lasting impressions hard to find anywhere else. And the staff environment is closer to a group of friends trying to make a difference than a corporation. I’m really learning a lot about food and housing insecurity.”
In addition to tennis (of course!) Paul loves hiking, Formula 1 racing, ceramics and is a devoted cat owner.
You can reach Paul at 704-735-5231 or email Paul.Deavers@CommonHeart.org
