Recently members of Common Heart’s Economic Empowerment team traveled to Toledo, Ohio to participate in the “Together We Thrive” conference hosted by Emerge Solutions. The last time the team gathered with other Bridges out of Poverty practitioners and communities was in 2019.

The conference was a valuable time of learning and making connections as Common Heart works to improve the lives of families experiencing poverty in our community, said Economic Empowerment Director Delan Fulgham. “It was encouraging to be around people from all around the US and Canada doing the same work as us to better their communities,” he said. “It was a rejuvenating experience and strengthened our commitment to foster a place of safety and belonging while building relationships creating a solid foundation for our community well-being.”

“Through participation in the conference, we learned new ways to empower our friends experiencing poverty, improve our success rates, and advocate for policy change to support families as they rise out of poverty and create a sustainable community where all can thrive,” said Executive Director Keith Adams.
