Giving Tuesday is Dec. 1!

Explore Ways to Give: Make a Difference This Giving Tuesday

Your generosity today. Their possibilities tomorrow.

As the year comes to a close, Giving Tuesday is a wonderful reminder of the power of generosity and the difference we can make when we come together for our neighbors.

For 20 years, Common Heart has been creating a small revolution of kindness throughout Union County and southeast Mecklenburg County. Thanks to the generosity of our community, we’re able to provide food assistance to thousands of neighbors each month while helping individuals and families build a more stable financial future through our Economic Empowerment programs.

This Giving Tuesday, December 1, we invite you to consider Common Heart as part of your year-end giving plans. There are several meaningful ways to make a difference, and every gift helps us continue serving our neighbors.

Give Through a Donor–Advised Fund (DAF)
A donor-advised fund is a wonderful way to turn your charitable giving into lasting community impact. If you have an established DAF, consider recommending a grant to Common Heart as part of your year-end giving.

Simply contact your fund administrator to recommend a grant to Common Heart. Your generosity will help provide food assistance and empower neighbors working toward a brighter future.

Give Through Your IRA
Did you know your retirement savings could help make a difference in our community?

If you are 70½ or older, you may be eligible to make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) directly from your IRA to Common Heart. For eligible donors, this can be a tax-efficient way to support the causes you care about and may also help satisfy required minimum distributions.

Contact your IRA custodian to learn more about making a charitable distribution to Common Heart.

Give Through Stocks or Appreciated Assets
Giving doesn’t always have to come from your checking account! Donating appreciated stocks or other eligible securities can be a meaningful way to support Common Heart while potentially providing tax advantages.

By donating eligible investments directly, you may be able to avoid capital gains taxes on appreciation while helping us continue serving our neighbors.

Make a Traditional Donation
One of the simplest ways to support Common Heart is through a direct financial gift. Whether you choose to make a one-time donation or become a monthly supporter, your generosity helps keep our pantry shelves stocked, provides food assistance to families, and supports programs that empower neighbors to move toward financial stability.

Make a Lasting Impact Through Ongoing Giving
Your kindness can make a difference all year long! Explore our giving programs designed for individuals, businesses, and faith communities.

  • Circle of Kindness: Monthly giving that provides consistent support to neighbors in need. Just $35 can help feed a family for one week.
  • Patron of the Heart: Monthly giving opportunities starting at $50 to support food assistance and economic empowerment.
  • KIND Donors: An annual giving program for businesses and faith communities making a $3,000 commitment, with opportunities for recognition and community engagement.

Your Generosity Makes a Difference Beyond the Holidays
While Giving Tuesday is just one day, your kindness makes an impact all year long. Every month, Common Heart serves more than 11,000 neighbors through food assistance and programs that help families build a more stable future.

As we celebrate 20 years of neighbors helping neighbors, we hope you’ll consider making Common Heart part of your year-end generosity.

Together, we can continue creating a small revolution of kindness!
