Celebrate our Getting Ahead graduates!

One of our most recent Getting Ahead graduates, Melanie Torrence, faces a lot of challenges as a kidney dialysis patient. She has treatments at least three times a week and cares for her son, volunteering at his school as much as possible.

Before GA, she said, they were living in “crisis mode” and she never took the time to set long-term goals and take steps to achieve those. That’s changing now thanks to what she learned in GA and her enrollment in our Emergency Savings Incentive Plan which includes resource-building workshops and financial literacy classes. She’ll receive a $500 bank deposit when completed.

“Before beginning Getting Ahead I only focused on immediate needs,” she said. “Goals were thought about but not actually set because I had to survive day to day.”

Want to cheer on these hard-working neighbors?  Our current Getting Ahead empowerment group is graduating soon and YOU’RE INVITED!

Please join us for dinner on Thursday, March 20 at Siler Presbyterian Church and help us celebrate. Get all the details and RSVP here.

We’re also looking for donations of 8.5″x11″ black frames for graduation certificates. They’re available for purchase on our Amazon Wish List which ships directly to us!
