We got a Facebook message recently from “Sarah,” saying that even in a double income household, it was “overwhelming” to try to provide for their 3 children, especially with rising prices. “Gas and groceries are killing us and we’re falling behind on bills,” she said. “We need help to feed our kids. I’m OK going without as long as the kids aren’t hungry.”
Thanks to generous volunteers and donations, she’s been able to get free groceries at one of our evening food pantries – for Mom & Dad, too! “What a relief,” she wrote back. “Thanks so much for your help.”
You can help ensure that neighbors like “Sarah” don’t go hungry by participating in Common Heart’s 8th annual Hunger Walk fundraiser. The event will be held on Sunday, March 3 at Crooked Creek Park in Indian Trail. Registration is $35 for adults and $15 for children ages 12 and younger and includes a T-shirt. A family discount of $125 is available for households of 5 or more.
Common Heart’s food pantries are a lifeline for our hungry neighbors. Each month, about 5,500 individuals are served through 14 pantry programs. In 2023, Common Heart provided groceries to 15,621 neighbors an average of 4 times.
This year, you and I have an opportunity to grow this small revolution of kindness and TAKE STEPS TO END LOCAL HUNGER with the Common Heart Hunger Walk!
On Sunday, March 3, come walk with us at Crooked Creek Park in Indian Trail!
Sponsorships still available!
