What’s the secret sauce of Common Heart? YOU! Your kindness. Your generosity. Your prayers. And your willingness to step up for neighbors you may never meet. 

Without your generosity, more children would go to bed hungry. More seniors would face long, quiet days without a knock on the door and the friendly smile of a Cupboard Ally volunteer. Fewer parents would have the tools they need to build a new future for their children. Because of you, hope is alive and growing right here in our community. That’s why your generosity this month matters so much! It’s what will keep that hope alive for our neighbors facing hunger right now. 

One of the many neighbors you’ve helped is Vivian, a retired senior living alone. She called with “very little food left” in her home. Waiting for food stamps, she didn’t know how she would get groceries.

Because of your generosity, Vivian received an emergency food box the same day and was paired with a Cupboard Ally volunteer to visit her each month with groceries and friendship. Her relief was immediate: “This is so wonderful. I feel a lot of relief. It’s so good to know there are people out there who do things like this.”

That’s why I’m asking you to lean in again. 

Over the next several weeks during this Love in Action season, we have the opportunity to help bridge the gap through generous donations. Then we’ll join together in a celebration of the kindness you’ve helped unmask in our community at our Love in Action Gala presented by Coca-Cola Consolidated on Friday, October 3 at Threshold Church in Weddington. 

It will be a night to remember—a great meal, two bands, unique silent auction items, stories of hope, and folks just like you who believe in the power of intentional kindness. Just like a good recipe, your compassion, generosity, and spirit bring all the ingredients together for something unforgettable.
