We’re so excited to introduce you to the newest member of our team, Jennifer Savage, Success Coach with our Economic Empowerment program. Jennifer is the friendly face our Getting Ahead graduates meet when they’re ready to work on completing their goals as they continue their journeys out of poverty. 

Jennifer has an extensive background working with local nonprofits including the Charlotte CROP Hunger Walk and Dove’s Nest (the women’s substance abuse addiction campus of the Charlotte Rescue Mission). She has two life coaching certifications, including just finishing the Certified Insight Coach Practitioner (CICP) program and is currently in graduate school to earn a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling on a full scholarship! She’s eager to become a licensed counselor soon as well to “continue to help those in our community who most need access to affordable mental health care.”

She said she was initially drawn to Common Heart by our motto “a small revolution of kindness.” 

“I felt certain it was a special place – turns out I was right,” she said. Her favorite part of the job so far has been helping GA graduates “put their goals for the future into action. It’s sort of like being paid to be a personal cheerleader who aids people in seeing patterns in their behavior, life, & relationships and helps them figure out the best way forward. It is so rewarding and I know how lucky I am to be able to do this work.”

It’s the neighbors we serve at Common Heart that make her job “feel less like work and more like a calling. Seeing people make big changes to their lives and succeeding will never get old,” she said. Jennifer will also be facilitating a new women’s support group starting soon.

Jennifer is a mom of two and enjoys being home with her family and working in her garden. She also loves to paint flowers, thrift shop, read cheesy romance books, and respond to text messages with funny GIFs. Her family includes two cats and a mini-schnauzer “who treats every Amazon driver like his own personal enemy.” ha ha!
