This year, some very generous friends have challenged us to raise support in four new exciting initiatives. Your donation today will be double or triple matched because they have literally put up $50,000. These friends will increase your impact by matching dollar for dollar each investment over the next 2 weeks in the initiatives listed below. Plus, if you are willing to become a monthly donor, they will triple your impact adding two dollars for every dollar you pledge monthly! Hurry, May 1 is the last day to donate for Kickstart Kindness! Now is the time to give and see your generosity and kindness multiplied!
KICKSTART PROJECT: Pantries 6 days a Week
COST: $11,750
Even as food insecurity rates go down, the number of people we serve continues to go up. We are thrilled to partner with St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church in Marvin and Stallings Church to open two new evening pantries, as well as with Nicey Grove Baptist Church for a new rotating monthly morning pantry location! This means three new opportunities for our neighbors to receive the food they need to feed themselves and their families. It also means that including our Common Cupboard delivery-based pantry, Common Heart will have pantries open 6 days a week!
KICKSTART PROJECT: Expand Getting Ahead
COST: $8,825
People who face trauma as children are more likely to experience poverty as adults. This is why our signature Getting Ahead program will expand from 17 to 20 sessions by bringing a new focus on Adverse Childhood Experiences and Trauma and its impact on the lives of low-resourced families in poverty. This addition to the program will allow even more opportunity for our investigators to process their past experiences, transform their lives, and write new future stories for themselves and their families.
KICKSTART PROJECT: Warehouse Expansion
COST: $8,675
As we grow and desire to provide more food to the families we serve, our space needs to grow with us! We are increasing the capacity of our Indian Trail warehouse to serve our 15 food pantry outreaches reaching over 14,393 different individuals last year in Union County. We are excited to move things around and add additional refrigerated space to our Indian Trail warehouse as we continue to serve 74% of the food insecure residents in Union County.
KICKSTART PROJECT: Stability & Growth
COST: $5,750
Men in poverty often experience low self-esteem, stress, anxiety, and social isolation. This is why we are excited to be launching a new men’s support group and expanding our Stability and Growth program. These workshops increase economic mobility for food insecure families and those challenged by poverty. Some of our current offerings are “Working Smart,” “Money & Me,” “Escaping Relational Drama,” and “W.O.M.B. Women On a Mission Boldly.”
